Creating Magic in Digital Spaces
Postal is an independent travel magazine that brings locals and adventures together. They focus on budget traveling, harvesting a community, and taking you outside of the everyday tourist attractions. Postal features a different country every quarter with the writings and photos of adventurers traveling the world and the locals within every location. They want their readers to travel confidently and to inspire them to share their own stories as well as take a piece of the world back to their home through recipes and DIY activities.
Personable typography, illustration, photography, and articles produce a friendly and collaborative travel magazine like Postal. The fonts were chosen to be readable even during transport while not overwhelming a small digest magazine. I color coded the articles to encourage viewers to read periodically through their travels. The photos chosen are meant to be immersive, and taken by the author, to submerge the reader in the location. These photos are commonly at a leveled angle with a centered focal point.
Front of Book
Each issue of Postal starts with journal entries written by travelers for the readers. This section is similar to talking to friends who have just came back from a journey and know the best place for dinner on a budget. These entries range from budging to diary entries.
Middle Of Book
Long form and curated content is found in the middle of the magazine. These entries are from current travelers and locals from the location.
Back Of Book
Not ready to travel or miss the experience? The back of the magazine ends with activities and recipes to try before your next adventure.
